The Real Winner in Ambush Marketing!

With Flipkart launching a teaser called "#AchhaKiya" which started trending on Twitter, Snapdeal jumped in to grab the opportunity to troll them! The audience has obviously seen the rivalry between India's leading e-commerce websites: Flipkart and Snapdeal even before when Snapdeal's Rohit Bansal was ranting about the lack of engineers in India and Flipkart's Sachin Bansal snapped back at him. However, this time they took it to another level and it was seen all over the social media.
Let's have a look:

Well, the story doesn't end here. After all, how could Amazon lag behind in the battle of the brands! Here's what they did:

Ambush marketing is basically an attempt to draw the attention of the audience from one brand to the other through various creative efforts. It has turned out to be an extremely effective form of marketing in the recent times. Ad agencies consider it the most contemporary and innovative strategy to create a buzz among the viewers.

And this is not it! So many brands have been victimized by Ambush marketing! For example Housing.com, recently came up with a hoarding “Start your new life today, Look up”, and then this is what Common Floor had to say:

So does it work? People ask! Well the answer is a resounding YES! Ambush Marketing is probably the most belligerent, blatant, in-your-face, unapologetic yet successful attempt to catch the attention! It may have short term benefits, but yes, a brand became noticeable! In the world of advertising, sarcasm and sattire is something that will always be appreciated!

If used correctly, it will help a brand score brownie points in the world of marketing and promotions! If you are wondering whether it is legal and ethical, yes it is legal. Unlike piracy there are no laws governing ambush marketing. About being ethical, it depends on your core values. If you are a brand that does not believe in putting another brand down, you will not do it! But there's no harm! The audience loves it.

So are you ready to get ambushed? Or are you planning to give it back? The choice is yours!www.twitter.com/tweeterellaah
